Chapbook/ZINE Workshop with Terra Poirier

Notes on preparation for the workshop:

First: write a short piece on the theme of "how to"

Second: Come with your short piece printed out in such a way that the text block fits into an area of 4.5" W by 7" H (that is 4.5 inches wide by 7 inches high). That is the size of zine we'll be working with -- 'zine is short for magazine (and usually indicates a handmade and photocopied magazine, done DIY or Do It Yourself style. Try to pick a piece that you can fit into those dimensions, but if you need to print two such pages, that's ok. But two is the hard limit...

Terra Poirier is a filmmaker turned photographer working in analog and low-fidelity formats to explore memory, place, and the disruption of both. She works with pinhole photography, text, phototransfer, book works and installation to represent memories comprised of fiction and nonfiction, nightmares, dreams and wishful thinking. Her short films have screened internationally, and she’s taught video production at the Gulf Islands Film and Television School, Access to Media Education Society and through the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.
